Sputtr.com – A Better Way To Search The Net? May 29, 2007

I came across this site today.
Sputtr offers one search box at the top of the page and a choice of many different search engines and social bookmarking sites. The search choices are presented as small icons below the search box.
The choices include all the Google searches, flickr, technorati, furl, snap, Yahoo, Live search, ask, del.ici.ous, Digg, Reddit, Stumbleupon, Furl, Blinklist, Youtube, Daily Motion, ifilm, Metacafe, deviantART, Myspace, last.fm, cnet, newsvine, slashdot, twitter, amazon, ebay, wikipedia, dictionary.com, answers, and imdb.com
Simply type in your search terms and press the corresponding icon to search the site of your choice. It’s a very simple but great idea, bringing many search choices together on one page. There are currently around 36 search choices but there is also an icon to suggest additional searchers.
I found this agreat resource and have made it my first call for web searching.
Wi-Fi health Scare – Childrens health at risk? May 23, 2007

Watch the Panorama show on the BBC Website
Did you watch Panorama on the Beeb. The latest show was all about the alleged dangers of wifi technology to our health, especially children. I for one was quite surprised at the results.
Apparently the radiation emitted from a wifi router is three times that of a mobile phone mast, at it’s strongest emission point. The largest concern was regarding possible health implications to your children. Almost all UK schools are rolling out wireless network access for use during lessons. Is it possible that they are literally being irradiated as they study?
Sir William Stewart, Chairman of the Health Protection Agency was responsible for advising the government about mobile phone masts. He advised that the signal from a mobile phone mast should not fall within the school grounds. Yet schools are now placing wifi routers within classrooms. These routers emit a far stronger signal than the mobile phone masts.
The show includes scientists quoting test results proving biological effects and also shows a group of people known as electro sensitives, they become ill due to exposure.
Maybe the panorama program is scaremongering and may well cause an unecessary slump in the sales of wireless internet routers but you know how much the media like to cause a panic, it’s good for ratings. The show is currently available to view on the BBC site by clicking the link at the top of this post.
I found this great Cat site and wanted to share it May 18, 2007

After some casual time wasting on Google, I came across this great site about cats. The site is maintained by Sarah Hartwell and I have to say , she knows her stuff. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the content on her site and learned some new cat facts.
The site is very simply and clearly laid out with no fancy images or adverts (Maybe Sarah should consider some Google adsense adverts to reward her for her efforts). There are many categories covering the many aspects involved with caring for your cat. There are explanations and photographs giving details of many cat related items I did not even know existed. All in all, if you are a cat lover the site made a most enjoyable change and congratulations to Sarah for having the dedication to compile and maintain the site.
You can find the site here http://www.messybeast.com/catarchive.htm
UK Eurovision Disaster – Again! May 13, 2007

The Eurovision song contest 2007 has passed and Marija ŠERIFOVIĆ from Serbia won with the song Molitva.
I sat and watched the eurovision song contest again! After swearing to avoid it, I fell under the spell and could not escape until all 24 countries had performed. Every time it’s on I promise myself that it will not be viewed in our house at any cost! But it never works.
Can anyone offer an explanation to why it drags you in and keeps you there like a spider caught in a web. I didn’t want to watch it! I really didn’t. The strange video clips between each countries entry were probably the strangest I have seen.
Two men wearing shorts, wellies and fur coats walking in the snow and ice decide to go for a dip in sub-zero waters. One takes the plunge while the other stands by and plays the accordion. After a little accordion action he too jumps into the water. What the hell! I thought we British were eccentric but Finland take the trophy. This aquatic behaviour seemed to surprise no one as if everybody does it. Maybe they do, in Finland.
Eurovision always produces songs, dances and outfits that you do not wish to see or hear everyday, actually I woud be happy to not have seen some at all. The United Kingdom entry from Scooch was just terrible and did not deserve the 19 points it achieved. Drivel, just drivel. Who the hell entered this lot in the first place? Are these people the best that the UK can offer as eurovision entrants, sadly it would seem so.
“Gothic” seemed a very popular look for the ladies with some eye catching outfits certainly raising a few eyebrows in households across europe I should imagine. Turkeys entry was given extra pzazz by a few belly dancers who apparently were all British. Can no one belly dance in Turkey?
The usual sarcasm soaked commentary from Wogan added to the mix of garish outfits, bad dancing, strange lyrics and over extravagance that is the Eurovision song contest. And yes, I probably will be watching again next time!.
